Supporting Charities Globally

Here at MCR Property Group, we recognise the importance of helping out where we can. Whether it be encouraging our employees on their own charitable endeavours e.g. marathons or hosting our own events e.g. bake sales and fundraisers. We take pride in ourselves in trying to make a difference by placing philanthropy at the heart of our company culture.

Our Founder, Aneel Mussarat created the Rafay Mussarat Foundation in 2017 with a mission to tackle homelessness and provide vital healthcare and education to those trapped by poverty. The foundation works both in the UK and internationally.  The foundation aspires to build homeless shelters across the UK and to build free to use hospitals in Pakistan throughout Punjab.

Hospitals and Aid in Pakistan

In Pakistan, the foundation has recently pledged to develop nine free-to-use hospitals in Pakistan. The first of these hospitals is expected to welcome patients in 2023 with the other eight due to be completed over the next decade. These hospitals are in addition to the free eye and general hospital the foundation already runs in Pakistan. It is estimated that up to 10m people will benefit from these vital new facilities.

Between 2019 and 2021, the Foundation also distributed over 30,000 food packages to Pakistan’s poor — each designed to feed a family of five for a month.

Rohingya Aid

Aneel and the foundation visited Myanmar to see first-hand the plight of the Rohingya people and the overwhelming challenges they face every day. Their time on the ground was humbling and highlighted the sheer level of support that is required to help restore humanity there. The foundation will further expand on what they have already achieved in Myanmar, providing international relief throughout the world to communities in need.

“On our recent visit to Myanmar, we were deeply shocked and saddened to witness the terrible conditions faced by the Rohingya people who have been displaced,” explains Aneel. “While there, we were given the opportunity to help the Bangladesh army distribute food to some 17,000 people and, though the crisis was horrific to witness, we feel blessed to have been able to help.”

Partnership with Smile Aid

In 2021, we partnered with the council during Ramadan to deliver food packages, clothing and sleeping bags. At the same time, it partnered with the Manchester-based charity Smile Aid to distribute 100,000 meals through food banks in Manchester’s deprived Longsight area.

MCR Charity Run

On May 28th 2017, 49 members of the MCR team took part in the Manchester 10k run, raising an estimated £2,000 for charity. The Manchester 10km run is the largest run of its type in Europe.

Each member of the team donated £38, as well as accumulating additional contributions from sponsors such as our friends at Cambridge and Counties Bank. The run kicked-off on Portland Street, heading through the city centre and past Mancunian landmarks like Old Trafford football ground, The Imperial War Museum and The Lowry before crossing the finish line in Deansgate.

Homeless Shelters in Manchester

The foundation began a £2 million programme of building homeless shelters in 2021. The aim is to deliver 1,000 places for homeless people by 2022, the aim being to combat drug and alcohol dependency and to reintegrate those who use the shelters back into mainstream society.

MCR Peace Walk

On June 1st, hundreds of MCR Property Group employees, family and friends joined together for a peace walk in memory of the Manchester Arena attack victims. Everybody walked together in solidarity holding banners with different messages as a symbol of peace and love towards Manchester.

National Autistic Society

In September 2017, Aneel’s daughter got married. Rather than accept gifts for the newlyweds, Aneel asked that guests make a donation to The National Autistic Society. In total £80,000 was raised and donated to the charity. The CEO Mark Lever sent a formal letter in acknowledgement of the extraordinary donation. Since then, Aneel has had meetings with The Senior Relationships Manager and Head of Corporate Partnerships of The National Autistic Society to see how MCR Property Group can help to raise money and awareness for such a worthy charity.

Breast Cancer Research

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Breast Cancer Now aim to get as many people as possible involved in raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research. As the UK’s largest breast charity, along with its supporters, they do this through campaigning, collecting, an array of events across the UK as well as encouraging everyone to wear pink. This year MCR Property Group joined the UK in wearing pink too!
